According to the latest buzz from Television, Big B of Bollywood industry, Amitabh Bachchan, will be hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Season Four, on Sony Entertainment channel.

Earlier, the show was supposed to be hosted by Aamir Khan, but now it goes back to the first host of the show, Mr. Bachchan.

The show produced for three seasons by Siddharth Basu from Synergy, which is now Big Synergy, for Star Plus, will now be aired on Sony Entertainment channel, by year end.

While none of the two parties are willing to comment on Bachchan’s return as the host of the show, a well-placed industry source does give out that an announcement in this regard may be made very soon. The source also says that Star Plus hasn’t renewed the contract for the show and it’s now with the company that actually holds the format, Sony. “It’s natural for them to give it to Sony. The talks have already been initiated on the money and who the host will be. We’ll have to wait and watch,” adds the source.

Big B was the first host of the show in 2000, and it was his first appearance on Indian Television.

After a four-year break, the show was restarted in 2005 as ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati Dwitiya’. But due to Big B’s illness, the show ended in 2006.

In 2007, SRK became the host of the show, but the show under Khan could not become as popular as it was under Big B.

After enthralling viewers across the country with Fifty Two entertaining episodes of quizzing, the time has come for season one of Kaun Banega Crorepati with SRK to bid adieu. But not just like that! The Badshah of Bollywood in his trademark style is all set to entertain viewers with an exciting, one of a kind, fun-filled episode of KBC. The grand finale episode of KBC will see the leading ladies of the silver screen Kareena Kapoor with Priyanka Chopra and the hottest pair of tinsel town, Salman Khan with Katrina Kaif when they come together on television for the first time ever on a game show.

After the movie Don, this is SRK’s first tryst with Kareena and Priyanka together. Priyanka Chopra on her experience in KBC said, “KBC was a fantastic experience and I enjoyed myself to the hilt. Sitting across Shahrukh can be quite nerve wrecking, but he completely put me at ease. In fact he was completely driven up the wall because Kareena and I would keep debating which answer to opt for and always came up with different options. The fun was complete with Salman and Katrina on the show, where all of us did the last segment together.”

If word is to believed then Salman will leave the audiences rolling in splits of laughter with his wit and wacky humor. The episode also has Priyanka exercising her vocal chords and belting out melodies that will leave audiences speechless.

Kareena will donate her prize money to St. Anthony’s Old Age Home and Mount Mary’s Bandra, and Priyanka will contribute her prize money to Nari and the Utkal Bipanaa Sahayata Samiti. Katrina will donate her prize-money to the Kovalam Charitable trust and Salman will donate his money for his soon to be opened Salman Khan Foundation (SKF).

Salman Khan has received a lot of flak for his infamous deeds in the past. However, the actor has made genuine efforts to rectify his image ever since. After extending financial help to a cancer-stricken child, the brawny actor has decided to institutionalize the cause of helping the disadvantaged.

Salman has applied for the registration of an NGO called the Salman Khan Foundation, which will render support to the poor and needy masses. He decided to throw light on his cause in a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3. Hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, the episode was shot recently with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif on the hot seats. It is speculated that the duo have won a prize amount of Rs. 50 lakh on the particular show, which they will forward to the Salman Khan Foundation.

It is learned that Bollywood babes Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor will also be seen together in that episode of KBC.

Kaun Banega Crorepati, next special celebrity episode with feature Bollywood’s blockbuster hit flick – ‘Munnabhai’ comic pair – Sanjay Dutt & Boman Irani.

Making way to Gandhigiri on KBC both Sanjay & Boman will dash the spirit of goodness as practiced in their movie Munnabhai. In their riveting humor and ishtyle, the perfect pair of two intense & multi-faceted actors will get on with the game, as the star host- SRK, warmly welcomes them to celebrate the Gandhi’s dictum ‘Kar bhala toh ho bhala’, inviting them to play for a noble cause!

As the show proceeds with a comical sidekick, Sanjay tries out some of his popular Munnabhai frolics- playing along, he once tries to slide an earphone in jest to aid him with an answer, while he is caught by Boman & SRK! Sometimes even consulting Bapu (the famous imaginary character of Munnabhai-2) whom, only he can see & hear, to guide him to the correct answers.

All the three master pranksters (SRK, Sanjay & Boman) pull a fast one on Arshad Warsi (aka Circuit, the trusted aide of Munna Bhai), when they call him to tell that he is on their Phone-A-Friend, helpline as they are stuck on the big- 2 crore question! Arshad, caught completely off-guard becomes numb and topples over to just guess an answer, of the hard-hitting question.

SRK surprises the audiences, as he tells them about Sanjay’s hidden talent of ‘air guitaring’ and requests him to demonstrate a small piece of his skill on the show. Shah Rukh playing the perfect host & dost also, requests Boman to sing the International popular number – “We are the world” that had originally been sung by various artistes. At this Boman leaves everyone jaw dropped as he actually modulates his voice singing & mimicking all the original singers!.The episode will air on March 29.

Sanjay Dutt intends to help a NGO called ‘Support’ with the money that he earned in KBC 3. ‘Support’ is a NGO that rehabilitates drug addicted minors. Dutt is one of the prominent members of this organization.

Sanjay Dutt informs that he learnt about ‘Support’ through a common friend and decided to lend a helping hand to the organization. Since, he too has a history of addiction to drugs; Dutt says that he can understand mental state of drug addicted kids and their families. He therefore, tries to as much possible time to the kids. Sanjay Dutt not only visits and counsels them but also and mobilizes funds for the organization.

Dutt along with Boman Irani recently shot a special celebrity guest episode on KBC 3. The show hosted by Shah Rukh Khan was shot in Film City.

Sanjay Dutt who is an avid watcher of Shah Rukh’s show will be seen donning a new avtar, that of a contestant on KBC. Sanjay along with Boman Irani recently shot for an episode for KBC along with Shah Rukh Khan in Film City.

It is said that Dutt is so much in awe of Shah Rukh that after watching his antics on the show he messaged the new quizmaster to tell him how much he loved the show. Shah Rukh spontaneously messaged him back thanking him.

Well seems like KBC has not only helped Shah Rukh enhance his image but has also helped create a bond of long lasting friendship with Dutt.

For Shah Rukh Khan KBC is a great opportunity to entertain people. He does not deny big money in the big game show. But at the same time, he says, it is a big challenge to my acting. The actor in me tries to come out of the anchor Shah Rukh Khan. Explaining this, he says, as an actor I have to go by the script, show my acting skills while here as an anchor I have to be what I am, Shah Rukh Khan, responding to ever changing situation and mood of the contestant.

Recently, he had media interaction, at the set of KBC in Chitranagari Mumbai where he spoke about various issues ranging from the talk in media about him and Amitabh to his plans in the near future with the confidence of a mature mega star and candidness of a heart for people.

He finds the rims of media coverage comparing him with Amitabh Bachchan as a normal incident, part of the media game. It was bound to happen. We expected it. Explaining this, he says, earlier he acted in the new Don and now he was the host of KBC. It is natural for people to compare.

But I am what I am and I want to be me. I do not want to copy, but it will take some time before I establish my identity in the programme. See, Amitabhji is tall and so is his shadow and it will take some time to come out of the shadow, this is how he replies to a question about coming out of shadow of Amitabh.

I respect Amitabhji. He is a great artist. When I joined the film industry people use to compare me with Dilip Kumar. It goes on. Everyone likes to read about himself. I also like. It’s all media game and I am also part of the media. This is how he describes all what is appearing in the media about him with reference to KBC.

The experience of anchor is new for him. He says that he is 90 per cent actor and this actor in him comes out of him the moment the camera is on. But as an anchor, I have to be me, Sha Rukh Khan. I will certainly like to be anchor of such a mega show, but it all depends on offer from people like Siddhartha Basu, he says with his imitable smile.

Though there is no script like in the case of acting, he does practice, particularly reading question. I get about 100 questions list, he says. He feels that people interested in joining KBC should come prepared. They should do home work. He recalls that he had prepared for almost one month when he was asked to be a contestant in the KBC of Bachchan.

With an obvious reference to the criticism of his hindi, he says I know my Hindi is not good. There are many whose Hindi is not good. But I am constantly trying to improve it, he says.

I really feel very sad when I know the answer and I find that the contestant has made a wrong choice. But, I can’t help it. He says people talk about the KBC in terms of Amithabji or Shah Rukh. But the hero of the game show is the contestant. He goes from the show as a happy man.

As an anchor of the country’s biggest game show he receives applauses and criticism both. At times, in a very rude way. However, here he shows his greatness. Scenes of the KBC might be censored, but live show on the set showed this greatness in the most natural way without any cut. A lady journalist fired a remark that he was very rude to old people. Without getting agitated, he explained how wrong the statement was. He says he receives SMSes that he copies Amitabh.

He says he likes humor and he wants to bring humor to the show. He tells about what his father told him about humor. Sense of humor should not hurt anyone and I am following this advice of my father, he says.

He feels that there was nothing wrong or to feel bad about one of the contestant Rachna Sharma saying that she was not interested in quitting the show in his style of having a hug. No one is forced and everyone is free to have his or her way. I offer three options for quitting- hug me, have a handshake or strangulate me.

He works for two episodes on a single day and has planned long holidays with his family this summer. He says at present he has Chuk De and Om Shanti Om and will think about new films only after family vacations.

He is a chain smoker. He himself admits that he smokes 35-40 cigarettes a day. When someone asked him about quitting smoking prompt was his reply, I have lot of tension of KBC. I will stop smoking after my KBC assignment!!

The one advantage of having Shah Rukh Khan as the host on KBC is he can get all his buddies to come on the hot seat.

After the star-studded Valentine’s special, SRK has just recorded yet another super-special for KBC. This time it’s a Holi special featuring his two KANK co-stars Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee.

The episode went off like a charm. Says a source from the set, “There were rumours about a fall-out between Preity and Rani who were once best friends. But SRK has a special of knack of making all his heroines feel special. Earlier this week on Koffee With Karan he actually made Kajol and her cousin Rani Mukherjee who self admittedly don’t socialize together sit together on one sofa and be civil to one another. Now on KBC Preity and Rani got along like a house on fire.”

Though the exact prize money won by the two leading ladies is not known they won close to Rs 50 lakhs together.

Shahrukh Khan proved himself adept at the showmanship style of quizzing with a two-hour glitz’n'glamour episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati III, featuring celebrity guests, musical overtures, balloons and simplistic quizzing.

The episode’s onset was more treacly than ever, with a Bollywood-style musical rendition by Shahrukh, followed by an exposition of the varieties of the romantic experience, an earnest explanation that it transcends the mere romantic or erotic to include parental, sibling, and familial. Given that inisght, the celebrity guests were couples of different sorts, from friends to siblings to married couples – Farah Khan and Karan Johar, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, and Malaika Arora Khan & Arbaaz Khan. Most looked pleasantly befuddled, and only Malaika & Arbaaz passed the ‘Fastest Finger First’ trial, an ordering of cricket events chronologically (Tests, ODIs, World Cup, Twenty20).

Malaika and Arbaaz did the wiggle and jiggle, including the two-step to Chaiyya Chaiyya with Shahrukh. The pair faced the Shahrukh trivia challenge, ably, donating their Rs. 12.5 lakh winnings to the St. Andrews Home for the Aged in Bandra, Mumbai. The tradition of celebrity winnings being donated to a charity of their choice is a laudable one, and one will not quibble about that. One will take issue, however, with the evidently ‘easier’ questions that were presented. Even on a ‘light’ quiz like KBC, one is accustomed to increasing complexity in the questions. The Rs. 12.5 lakh question however, was about where is the body of St. Francis Xavier – not as complex as one might imagine. A number of the other questions for most of the contestants were drawn from the realm of media and entertainment, rather than a more holistic pool of general information. Perhaps this was for the better, since it enabled a higher level of winnings for their charities.

The Akhtar siblings were a pleasant pair, donating their winnings to Nivara Hakk Welfare. Zoya has an upcoming film Love Story with Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor, while Farhan is still riding the Don wave. They picked their questions off with ease, using the ‘Phone a Friend’ lifeline to solve a toughie on which singer was originally known as Tannu Mishra, calling on the one person who would be most likely to know the answer – their father, Javed Akhtar. For the record, it’s Tansen. A short while later, they rolled a Banarasi paan to celebrate the Rs 6,40,000 milestone. The next question was a rather good one, about who is India’s first woman brewmaster (Kiran Mazumdar), which they flipped for another, and got a simple one in return about Interpol. The Rs. 25 lakh question was knocked out of the stadium by Farhan, who reasoned that Greg Chappell has never played a Test match or ODI in India during his cricketing career.

That brought on the ‘junglee billi’ pair of Farah Khan and Karan Johar, who were donating their winnings to the Bal Jeevan Trust. There was more banter in this group, with Farah giving Shahrukh a massage, and Karan taking the directorial hotseat, as it were, prior a commercial break. The questions were of low calibre, from what kind of animal is a stingray to which country nominated Deepa Mehta’s Water to the Oscars. They flipped a tricky question about Ghazals to get another sitter, which seems to be the way the flipper algorithm is configured. A tech-oriented question had them phoning a friend, who led them down the wrong path, and the audience leant the same way, recommending the iPod Nano, but they recovered in time to pick YouTube as the Time magazine Invention of the Year 2006. They wrapped up at the Rs 25 lakh mark as well, going out with a flourish, and effectively donating Rs 62.5 lakh to charities collectively with the other participants.

To wrap up the Bollywood-flavoured episode, everyone got jiggy with Shahrukh’s new KBC jingle Karle Karle Tu Ek Sawaal. Much fun was had, and intellectual elitist quibbles aside, good quizzing was experienced.
