The debate on who — Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan — is hotter on hot seat in Star TV’s Kaun Banega Crorepati is on, and reports on TRPs are only adding fuel to the fire.

Last week, it was widely reported that viewership for SRK’s KBC was not quite making a mark.

“Genuinely, for the past 17 years, I have never looked at the collections of my films. You’ll never find me talk of how big a hit my film is in an interview,” says Shah Rukh in an TV interview.

“In my career, I have never bothered about the business of films. Even in my own company, I will never know how much business is done. I wouldn’t like to talk about television either because I have even less knowledge about it here,” he adds.

While agreeing that he had heard reports of the TRPs being awful, he adds, “I have also been told that the TRPs are picking up and that we are the leading show on television right now.”

The two biggest stars of Bollywood – one an ageing icon, the other the heartthrob of a young generation – are fighting a battle for popularity and subtle digs at each other have marked their rivalry during the past few months.

In a TV interview, when SRK was asked about Big B and the rivalry between the two, he gave a curt reply, saying: “That was your generation, this is mine.”

Bachchan had also remarked that comparisons with a younger star only inspired him to act better so that Khan could imitate him. “I am quite good at what I do,” Khan retorted.
